Day 182

6:00pm

There is a certain smell down here that reminds me of you. It’s a good smell, one of  old buildings and history. Scents, like this and that of your loft, seem to be common to my memories of our friendship. I got here a little early and ordered a Macallen 12. The bartender looked shocked I’d ordered it. I guess it’s a rare request. Hehe.

7:00pm

Ordered some dinner, they do a good Fish & Chips here. It’s cooling off outside and the sun is getting lower. My head snaps up every time I hear the creak of the door open.

8:00pm

The bar has quieted since the happy hour crowd has dispersed. I’ve mostly passed the time reading a book. One of the many things I miss about you is your book recommendations.

9:00pm

The sun has set completely. The bar has gotten busier strangely enough. I keep hoping you’ll walk in every time the door opens. I need to apologize in person, I need to tell you what I’ve learned in these past months, I need to thank you.

10:00pm

It is time to go. This has been my closure. I’ve shed tears and smiled at memories tonight. I did not get to see your face but perhaps someday you’ll reach out. I truly hope you are happy, wherever you are. I hope tonight and every night that your life is filled with happiness. I am so incredibly sorry about who I was in the past but I want to thank you for jolting me onto a new path in the only way you knew how. I can never thank you enough but I hope, someday, that I can explain to you exactly what you mean to me.

Day 181

Average work Monday. I went to Bennett’s to do her lawn, so hot! She has so much weight on her shoulders but is managing. In less than 24 hours I’ll find out if you decide to meet me. In my heart, I do not think you will but I’ll go through the motions for the sake of closure. Secretly, I have hope that you will meet with me so we can begin the slow process of healing our broken friendship.

Memory: Drinks and standing at the back rail people watching at Black Swan.

Day 180

The trip was fun, got home around 2pm today and picked up the dogs from boarding. Pretty much napped the rest of the day (Sunday nap strikes again!) Went to pick up Ghost from my moms in the evening. She gave me a framed print that I remember growing up with which is eighty-seven years old. It was bought at the World’s Fair by my grandmother. Pretty cool.

Memory: Lunch with your family at that terrible Thai place off Skillman.

Day 179

Made the drive to Killeen and met up with everyone. It was a fun day and evening. Scotch tasting was nice, neat to try some different things I wouldn’t normally taste.

Memory: Rocking out to Mumford & Sons while on the way to SKAT in Ft. Worth.

Day 178

The wedding went well today. Mid-day Friday weddings are always nice. Getting Ghost ready for the weekend stay at my mom’s and will be heading to Killeen tomorrow morning.

Memory: Trips to Northpark, REI and Whole Earth Provisioning.

Day 177

Today has been odd. Among other out of the ordinary things, Sabrina let me know she is moving to Washington DC. I’l be taking one of her rabbits, one that we got together and who is very elderly. The others are going to new homes. Overall just a weird day!

Memory: Giving me the tour of Shake Shack and explaining the mistakes in the facade outside.

Day 176 | Week 27

Tonight was pretty chill, went to a happy hour and came home to watch really bad but entertaining movies. hehe. Taking off work tomorrow to do a wedding and then out of town over the weekend.

Memory: That random Italian place we had dinner at the night before Help Portrait.

Day 175

A week from today I’ll find out if you’ll meet me. You haven’t responded to my invite but I wasn’t expecting you to really and that is ok. If this post seems sad, it isn’t. Anticipation is probably the best description.

Memory: Making the leather camera strap together for your cousin.

Day 174

One of the benefits of all my self discovery, meditation, yoga, etc is that I do not get as easily stressed out over things. This is probably one of my favorite discoveries of the past six months.

Memory: After Halloween runs to Target for ridiculously large bags of candy.

Day 173

Family photoshoot, Good Friend for lunch, plumbing in Bennett’s house, dinner at Snuffers. I am beat and feel exactly how I should feel after so much bad food.  hehe.

Memory: Anticipating your visit while bored out of my mind DJ’ing at Klyde Warren Park.
